It was a wonderful day remembering, being thankful and paying it forward at St. Charles this Remembrance Day!
Our day began with a poignant liturgy to remember and thank all who have served in war. The liturgy was lead by the St. Charles Spirit Committee and the school choir. We were blessed to have parents and special guests from the Danube Centre join us.
Following the liturgy our Gr. 7 and 8 students, under the leadership of Mr. Kindratiuk and Ms. Slade, hosted a tea with our visitors from the Danube Centre. The seniors enjoyed the opportunity to share stories of their experiences and the experiences of their loved ones during war times. This truly brought the meaning and importance of Remembrance Day home for our students.
And finally, as a part of our school's ongoing commitment to "Be the Change" in our community and the world, we participated in "Operation Christmas Child: Samaritan's Purse". Led by Ms. Jansen and our Social Justice Group, St. Charles filled five shoeboxes that will be sent to children overseas who are in need. The generosity of our school community is absolutely astounding and our shoeboxes were overflowing! Please know that the items that could not fit in the shoebox will be a part of our Christmas toy drive.
Thank you to all of the staff, students and community for their ongoing support!
