October 20 Weekly Updates and Information
Published on Oct 20, 2018 09:21

Hello Families, I’d like to take a moment to thank all of our coaches and club leaders so far this season:  Ms. Gallo, Ms. Francisco, Ms. Haptas, Ms. Kanyo, Ms. McCardle, Ms. Rae, Ms. Partland, Mr. Harris and Ms. Hilton!  Because you have donated your time before school, after school and during your lunch our students have exciting opportunities outside of the classroom!  You help to make St. Charles a wonderful place for our students!

This week we had our first visit by the Rosary Apostolate.  This is a group of volunteers from Holy Martyrs of Japan parish, who visit the schools throughout the SMCDSB, teaching our students about the Rosary.  We are blessed to be involved in this wonderful opportunity this year! Classes will be visited monthly, culminating in a celebration in May.

PA Day Friday

This Friday, October 26 is a PA Day, no school for students.  During this day staff will be further exploring math teaching and learning.

Halloween Fun & Costume Guidelines:

Students may come dressed in their Halloween costumes on October 31st or they may elect to wear orange and black or their regular comfy clothes. Please remember….

  • Masks are to be left at home.
  • Excessive make-up may cause irritation if worn all day.  If make-up is worn, it must be put on at home, before school.
  • Props such as swords, knives, axes, guns, and other weapon-related paraphernalia are to be left at home.
  • Shoulders must be covered (three fingers wide).
  • Garment length must not be any shorter than your child’s middle finger when his/her arms are hanging straight down at his/her sides and should not be any longer than your child’s ankles (tripping hazard).

Have fun and stay safe!

We Scare Hunger

This year we will be running our annual food drive, WE Scare Hunger, from October 11-October 31.  Instead of a class competition, we will have a school goal to collect 900 items. This was the total from last year’s successful campaign.  It sounds like a lot but when we all work together our small but mighty St. Charles can do amazing things!

Dressing for the Weather:

With the winter weather almost upon us please make sure your children are dressed appropriately for the winter conditions. Hat, mitts or gloves, and snow pants and boots are necessary. Students are outside for 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes in the afternoon.

Save the Date for our Christmas Concert!

St. Charles School will host a Christmas Concert on Wednesday December 19th.  Additional details to come.
