October 27 Weekly Updates and Information
Published on Oct 27, 2018 11:18

Hello Families, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have generously donated non-perishable food items for our We Scare Hunger food drive.  The spirit and generosity of our school community is second-to-none. We are very fortunate and should be so proud of our generosity.

Teachers are working very hard on completing Progress Reports. Progress Reports are designed to show a student’s development of learning skills and work habits during the fall of the school year, as well as a student’s general progress in working towards the achievement of the curriculum expectations. This general assessment of how well each student is progressing towards the learning expectations is based on early observations, conversations and student work. We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences on November 15 and 16 to discuss your child’s progress.

~ Ms. Medve-Racine

Progress Reports & Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences:

Progress Reports will be going home for students in Grades 1 to 8 on Wednesday, November 14, 2018. Parent-Teacher conferences will be held on the evening of the 15th  from 3:30 PM to 8:00 PM and during the day on the 16th (8:45 AM to 3:00 PM). This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate your child’s successes and set future learning goals. We will again use an online process for the scheduling of parent teacher interviews. We hope that you find this system convenient.

Scheduling Conference Times:

Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences will be held on the evening of Thursday November 15th starting at 3:30pm, and during the day on Friday November 16th starting at 8:45 am.

Conference times are only booked online using School-Day. Parents will have access to book appointments beginning at 9am on Wednesday October 31st on School-Day and will remain open until Tuesday November 13th at 12 noon. Appointments are booked in 15 minute increments.

If you experience any difficulties with booking an appointment, please do not hesitate to contact the office.

Halloween Fun & Costume Guidelines: Students may come dressed in their Halloween costumes on October 31st or they may elect to wear orange and black or their regular comfy clothes. Please remember….

  • Masks are to be left at home.
  • Excessive make-up may cause irritation if worn all day.  If makeup is worn, it must be put on at home, before school.
  • Props such as swords, knives, axes, guns, and other weapon-related paraphernalia are to be left at home.
  • Shoulders must be covered (three fingers wide).
  • Garment length must not be any shorter than your child’s middle finger when his/her arms are hanging straight down at his/her sides and should not be any longer than your child’s ankles (tripping hazard).

Have fun and stay safe!

Dressing for the Weather:

With the winter weather almost upon us please make sure your children are dressed appropriately for the winter conditions. Hat, mitts or gloves, and snow pants and boots are necessary. Students are outside for 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes in the afternoon.
