January 19 Weekly Updates and Information
Published on Jan 19, 2019 11:04

It feels as though winter may have finally arrived!  A reminder that students are outside three times each day:  15 minutes before school and two 20 minute recesses during the day.  It’s essential that students are dressed and ready to enjoy their time outside.

Kindergarten Registration

Welcome to Kindergarten

Starting Kindergarten is an exciting and special time for parents and children. Our entire Catholic school community looks forward to welcoming our youngest students as they begin a lifelong journey of faith-filled learning. We believe there is something truly unique and special about learning that is rooted in faith and spiritual growth. By choosing a faith-filled education, we know you share that belief with us.

All the Information You Need

To help parents and students get ready for this important milestone, our board has developed an award-winning package. We encourage parents who are looking to register their child for Kindergarten to drop by the office to pick up their Welcome Bag and Kindergarten information package beginning February 4, 2019.  You can also find all of the information on our board’s website at www.smcdsb.on.ca. We also encourage you to check out our Welcome to Kindergarten Video on YouTube.

First Rider Program

Riding a school bus is a new experience for many children. To help your child get ready, the Simcoe County Student Transportation Consortium offers a First Rider program for Kindergarten students who will be taking the school bus. Students and parents will be able to participate in a one-hour session, which includes a short school bus ride to practice safe boarding and exiting as well as bus riding procedures. The sessions will take place in August and details can be found at simcoecountyschoolbus.ca.

English as a Second Language (ESL)

We have resources and information available for families whose first language is not English. Please inquire at your school for more information or visit the ESL Resources on our website.
