February 2 Weekly Updates and Information
Published on Feb 2, 2019 09:34

The New Year is well underway and despite the winter weather, both staff and students have been busy working on accomplishing their goals.  The first term reports will be coming home on February 22, 2019. It is important to note that this report card represents all of the learning that has taken place since September.   It will outline specifically how your child has met the curriculum expectations and his/her next steps for learning.

This month we also celebrate Family Day on February 18.  Families are a wonderful sign of God’s presence and love.  I would like to wish all of our families a happy, restful and safe Family Day.

~ Ms. Medve-Racine

Spirit Wear

Reminder that Spirit Wear orders are due to the office by February 15.  There are sample sizes in the office. Remember these are custom orders and cannot be returned or exchanged.

Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten registration packages are ready!  If you have a child or know a child born in 2015 they are eligible for Year One Kindergarten.   Come by or call the office if you have any questions or would like to pick up a package.

Dressing for the Weather

Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather conditions throughout the day. Hat, mitts or gloves, snow pants and boots are necessary. Please label all clothing items. Students will be outside for recess during the winter months as weather permits - please always send your child  to school dressed for outdoor recess.

Morning Supervision

Please note that outside supervision begins at 8:30am.  Please do not drop students off at school prior to this time.

If students are too ill to go outside for recess, we recommend that they stay home from school.  We do not have the space or personnel to supervise students inside due to illness during outdoor recess.  Keeping students home until they are well reduces the spread of germs during cold and flu season.

Inclement Weather & Bus Cancellations

Bus cancellation announcements can be heard on our local radio station or viewed on our board website at  www.smcdsb.on.ca or www.simcoecountyschoolbus.ca. We are in the South Weather Zone.

In the event that the buses are cancelled, the school is open for drop off at 8:30 am in the main foyer and students must be picked up by dismissal at 3:05 pm.

Please note that your child will require a lunch on inclement weather days as food orders are cancelled and rescheduled for the following school day.
