March 30 Weekly Updates and Information
Published on Mar 30, 2019 09:04

It’s hard to believe that Spring has officially sprung!  We have settled back into routine following the March break.  Students are busy learning and growing daily.

Every day we see a community of which we can all be proud to be a part of. We look forward to spring and new life promised by the warmer season. In April we will be celebrating Earth Day! Students and staff will be busy putting in some extra time doing various activities to ensure that we show our spirit and enthusiasm about being environmentally conscious. Together we can make a difference and help keep our planet healthy and clean.

School-to-Home Communication

Beginning in September 2019 our Board will be using a new notification system to help us communicate more effectively and efficiently with families. This new system will enable us to send notifications to parents and guardians using email, voicemail and text messaging. The notifications received by families could include school updates (example monthly newsletter), important board information (example summer school registration is open) or emergency notifications (example school lockdown).

The success of this system depends upon our board having the most up-to-date "School to Home" contact information on file, which includes a primary email address and cell phone number. To this end, we are asking every family in our board to complete this brief online form to ensure that we have the most current information entered into our student information system for the purpose of school to home communication. You will need your child's school email address to complete the form (your child should know this as they require it to login to their google account at school). Please take a brief moment to complete the information in this School to Home Communication Form. If you have any questions, please contact the school directly.

Find Your Magic Presentations

We are fortunate to have Find Your Magic presentations at St. Charles on April 30.  The Find Your Magic presentation with Brent and Sarah is a 50-60 minute interactive assembly presentation with a powerful message about kindness and character building. The show features Brent and Sarah Nicholls a husband and wife team of magicians/ speakers that have traveled the world entertaining aboard Disney Cruise Line and perform in over 100 elementary schools every year.

The presentation will inspire self-confidence in students and encourage them to create a positive and inclusive school environment. Brent and Sarah share their personal stories of resiliency and the steps that they took to overcome self-doubt and find their inner “magic.”

Throughout the presentation Brent and Sarah share 4 “Secrets of Magic”:

- Anything is Possible

- Believe in Yourself

- You’re Not Alone

- Find Your Magic

School Yearbooks

We are selling yearbooks at St. Charles again this year!  Within each yearbook you will find students’ individual photos and photos from special events in each class and in the school.  You will also find team and club photos. Yearbooks will sell for $25 each.

Yearbook Order Forms were sent home Friday, orders can be placed both online or through the school; cash or cheque are accepted. Please make cheques payable to  St.Charles School. The deadline to order is Friday May 3rd, late orders cannot be accepted.

Last year’s yearbook is available in the office if you would like to see a sample.

Parking lot

It is always best to have students take the bus to and from school to help alleviate traffic and congestion of parking lot and roads.  To ensure everyone understands the same safety rules: Morning- Entry only for kinder parents if spots are available. If lot is full, no entry.  No parking or stopping in centre lanes behind other vehicles. All vehicles must be turned off, NO IDLING. If lot is full and you are using the road, no stopping/parking on west side of Simcoe Road.  Kinder students must be walked to gate of yard by an adult. Dismissal- If busses are present, no vehicles will be permitted to enter, regardless of empty spots, only exiting will be permitted when busses present.  Again, no idling and no stopping/parking in lane area behind other vehicles.
